Starting in 1997, Mr. Savela worked for the Colorado Public Defender in El Paso, Adams and Route Counties.  His practice included successful defense of 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, DUI, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and other felony and misdemeanor cases. 


In 2002, Mr. Savela opened his own firm in Boulder, Colorado.  The aim of his practice is to represent individuals against the government or large corporations.  A primary area of practice is defending those accused of driving under the influence (DUI, DWAI, DWI, OUI).


Mr. Savela practices in all Colorado courts, including state and federal court.  He has handled cases from Hugo to Durango, but primarily practices in Boulder, Broomfield, Longmont, Golden and Brighton areas.


Mr. Savela is a member of the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD), Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, NORML Legal Committee, Colorado Trial Lawyers’ Association, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.


Mr. Savela is a Certified Breath Alcohol Technician for the Intoxilyzer 5000 by Industrial Training and Design, Ltd.


Mr. Savela is certified in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Student Course by LaPier & Associates.

Mr. Savela has been qualified as an expert in criminal defense by the District Court in Jefferson County.
